I've always been creative. After trying numerous creative endeavors throughout the years, I finally convinced myself to take a painting class in the fall of 2009. I instantly loved mixing colors but found using a paintbrush to be quite challenging and all I managed to paint was a whole lot of mud! Normally creativity came quite naturally to me but this time not so much.
Then one day my very insightful teacher insisted that I lose the paint brushes and use only a palette knife. Amazingly this made a HUGE difference and brought the painter in me out!
Looking back, I think the palette knife felt like an old friend. It relaxed me allowing the luscious colorful paint to flow freely. The next change was I stopped trying to create paintings from still life's or pictures as I realized my muse wanted to paint from my visions and dreams. These visions come to me when I get very quiet and tune out the rest of the world. They are a bit tricky to capture as they come in split second flashes in rapid sequence.
Once I let my muse have free reign to paint from my visions and dreams and exclusively use the palette knife, I had an "aha" moment. One day as I was painting and this overwhelming calm and clarity came over me. I realized I had finally found my true calling. I’ve been loving and enjoying painting almost daily ever since.
I currently call Vegas home and share my life with my high school sweetheart, who is my biggest fan, helpful critic and one of my most prolific muse's along with our 2 cats.
I’ve studied with Jeanne Lachance, Gillian Lee Smith, Pauline Agnew, Flora Bowley, Henry Yan, Dreama Tolle Perry and Jane Davenport.
